Our Story
PGR Timber was founded in 1984 as a family business operating out of a single unit in Laindon, Essex. Initially focused on cutting timber to order for the local community, we’ve since grown into a leading name in the building supplies industry across Essex and Surrey. Over the past 40 years, our expansion has been significant, yet we’ve remained true to the core values that have been with us from the beginning: providing personal service and maintaining a family-oriented approach to business.

Our relationships with the Builders Merchant Federation (BMF), FORTIS and the National Merchants Buying Society (NMBS) give us the buying power to offer competitive prices without compromising on quality.
We are also committed to environmental responsibility. All our branches hold full FSC® and PEFC chain of custody certifications, ensuring that our timber and sheet materials are sourced responsibly from well-managed forests. Our timber products are stored under cover, away from the elements, to maintain their high quality.

At PGR Timber, we understand that visualising a project can be challenging, which is why we’ve created supplier showrooms at our Rayleigh and Egham branches. Here, customers can see products like Millboard Decking, HardiePlank Cladding, and Porcelain Paving in situ, helping them to better plan and execute their projects. For larger or more complex projects, our dedicated Sales Office team offers a comprehensive service from start to finish. With their years of experience, they can assist with everything from plan take-offs to brick matching, ensuring that every detail is perfect.
