What are the main benefits of using treated timber?
The primary benefit is vastly increased durability and longevity, especially when the wood is used outdoors. Untreated softwood deteriorates and rots very quickly when exposed to rain or damp soil. Pressure-treated wood, however, is highly resistant to adverse weather and moisture, allowing it to remain structurally sound for decades when used for decking frames, fences, and landscaping projects.
Can I burn treated timber?
No, you shouldn't burn treated timber due to the treatment chemicals being released whilst it burns.
Do you offer a range of sizes of timber?
Of course, at PGR Timber we hold a range of sizes, including all of the popular sizes you'll need ranging in length from 2.4 - 7.2m. Suitable for all of your timber related jobs.
What is pressure treatment?
Pressure treatment is an industrial process used to drastically extend the lifespan of timber. The wood is placed inside a large, sealed vacuum chamber, which extracts the air from within the wood's cells. High pressure is then used to force chemical preservatives deep into the core of the timber, rather than just coating the surface. These chemicals provide a highly effective barrier that protects the wood against fungal decay, rot, and wood-boring insects, making it suitable for outdoor use.
