PGR Donates Over £2000 to Local Charities
To celebrate 35 successful years of trading, a team of colleagues tackled the brutal 12km obstacle course at the Nuclear Race event in Brentwood on Sunday 14th May and raised £2,000 for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and Havens Hospices. Our team t-shirts were kindly donated by TKing Associates and our team places were sponsored by Wienerberger and Meyer Timber. On Thursday 27th July, we presented our fundraising cheque to Lydia Plews of Havens Hospice at Little Havens, Daws Heath Road, Thundersley, Essex SS7 2LH. Lydia then showed the team around the hospice to show what the funds raised will help towards.
We chose the charity Havens Hospices which incorporates Fair Havens Hospice and Little Havens Hospice. Both hospices help by controlling pain and medication, offering respite and caring for adults, babies, children and teenagers at the end of their lives. This free, specialist care is there for as long as it is needed, within the home and at the charity’s two hospices. Havens Hospices is a registered charity – not part of the NHS – and receives limited government funding. The organisation must raise over £100,000 every week to be there for everyone who needs its care. Check out their website by clicking here.
We have grown from a small timber merchants in Laindon to dominating the Essex southern coastline and even branched out to Surrey, with seven branches now in operation. We stock a wide range of building and timber materials, and no job is too large or small. The independent family merchants offer exceptionally high levels of stock and service. Our commitment is to provide all our customers, whether trade or retail, with a first-class experience. To highlight 35 years, we felt it was important to support two local charities.
“We are proud to have provided specialist building and timber materials to our customers, for 35 years, but we wanted to give something back to the local community and support two incredibly important charities. It is definitely one of the toughest challenges I’ve ever done, but we managed it as a team, and we all got across the finish line successfully covered in mud. It was such a good day and we, as a team are so proud at our achievement and for raising the amount we have. We were delighted to be invited by Havens Hospice to see what impact our fundraising could do.” - Francesca Wynne-Morgan.
